NEW DELHI: Cisco has announced the global launch of its Cisco Aironet 1200 Series Access Points (AP) and 5 GHz IHEE 802.11a radios, a Wireless LAN (WLAN) solution and a enterprise ready WLAN infrastructure. The Cisco Aironet 350 series of 802.1b compliant wireless local area networking products includes a new family of high speed access points, bridges and client adapters.
Using this new wireless technology based on Cisco’s Architecture for Voice, Video, and Integrated Data (AVVID), enterprises can provide mobile network access for its employees in the campus environment. The WLAN comes equipped with a real time ‘Link Status Meter,’ which keeps the user alert on the nature of connectivity with signal standards like Good, Excellent etc.
The Cisco Aironet 1200 series AP allows for both single-and double radio configurations for operation in both the 2.5 and 5 GHz unlicensed bands plus field upgradability to modify these configurations as user requirements evolve.
Through the Cisco Aironet wireless networking security framework that’s based upon the proposed IEEE 802.1x standard, enterprises can for the first time scale wireless deployments to thousands of users with a standard, centralized security management framework.
The enterprise-class security framework delivers scalable, centralized security management, and supports dynamic single-session, single-user encryption keys integrated with network logon. RADIUS server support for the Cisco Aironet 350 series has also been incorporated into the newest release of Cisco Secure Access Control Server (ACS) for Windows 2000 and NT version 2.6.
The Cisco Aironet 350 series access points support in-line power over Ethernet, which simplifies and reduces the installations and operation costs to a considerable extent. This line power configuration is compatible with the IEEE 802.3a draft standard and works with all Cisco devices enabled for line power such as Cisco catalyst switches and line power patch panels.
