Collaboration in Motion integrates products and services from the Cisco WebEx, Cisco Unified Communications, Cisco Unified Wireless Network and Cisco Advanced Services product lines to bring the collaborative experience to the mobile workspace, said a press release.

As part of Collaboration in Motion, Cisco has focused on new products and services in five critical investment areas: the workspace experience, the wireless network platform, third-party applications, technology partners and professional services.

Cisco said the goal of this strategic approach is to bridge the gaps between an on-premises wired network, off-premises cellular network and a high performance Wi-Fi network, thereby enabling collaboration from any workspace.

“Together, the transformational power of collaboration combined with the power of the network as the platform can enable businesses to thrive,” said Ray Smets, vice president and general manager for the Cisco Wireless Networking Business Unit.

“Evolving modern businesses comprises workspaces that are rarely physically connected, and critical business information is collected and shared with mobile devices such as laptops and smart phones,” he added.

He said that Cisco’s approach with Collaboration in Motion harnesses the power of the network to connect the devices to the network, to people and to systems, to collaborate in a borderless organization.

The company also announced new additions to its portfolio that bolster the network security infrastructure and the delivery of cloud security services, thereby enabling businesses to collaborate with greater confidence even as their workforce and partners become increasingly mobile and interactive.

The Cisco security offerings announced today incorporate new threat defense products and services that will help customers protect against attacks, malware and botnets, no matter where they connect and communicate, said the release.

Tom Gillis, vice president and general manager, Security Technology business unit, Cisco, said, “In today’s changing world, businesses require a security strategy that accounts for the physical, virtual, mobile and global aspects of their business.”

He further said that their vision for security is based on a balance of protection and enablement, which integrates security from the network through to the endpoint and the user. Security needs to capture the latest threat intelligence to mitigate shifting threats. This combination enables businesses to collaborate with greater confidence when engaging employees, partners and customers.
