Cisco intros Linksys E-series wireless-N router in India

MUMBAI, INDIA: Telecom networking equipment maker Cisco launched its new Linkys E-series dual-band wireless-N router in India.

The networking company claims that the new router, Linksys E4200, can offer network speeds of up to 450Mbps.

The Linksys E4200 is equipped with 3 x 3 antenna technology, which can deliver up to 450Mbps on the 5GHz radio band, SpeedBoost amplifiers, which can provide additional range and MIMO technology that uses walls to amplify signal.

Designed by the Cisco Consumer design team in Denmark and California, the Linksys E4200 comes with Cisco Connect software.

Suresh Balasubramanian, national sales director, India at Cisco Consumer, said “There is a visible shift in consumer's internet usage pattern, which is focused more on entertainment needs. We have recognised this trend and the launch of Linksys E4200 router is a testimony to that."

The Linksys E4200 also features a USB port, can deliver maximum performance up to 300 Mbps (2.4) and up to 450 Mbps (5.0 GHz), simultaneous dual band (2.4 and 5.0 GHz), 4 Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, 1 Gigabit Ethernet WAN port, six antennas, WPA and WPA2 and SPI Firewall.

Going forward, it will also support IPV6 in spring 2011 through a free firmware upgrade.

E4200 is now available in over 2000 stores across India for Rs 9,000.
