Cisco gets new head for borderless networks business

BANGALORE, INDIA: Networking company Cisco announced that it has appointed Lalit S. Chowdhary as senior vice president of system engineering for Cisco India & SAARC sales.

Reporting to Naresh Wadhwa, president and country manager, Cisco India & South Asia, Lalit’s primary responsibility will be to drive Cisco’s Borderless Networks, collaboration and data centre and virtualisation architectures across government, services providers and enterprise customers in the region.

“The Systems Engineering organization has been pivotal in ensuring solution differentiation and customer satisfaction for Cisco. We are happy to have Lalit as the leader for this strategic team. We are confident that Lalit’s collaboration with his counterparts in Cisco across the globe will help us drive closer alignment of Cisco’s technology direction to our customers’ business needs in the India & SAARC region,” said Naresh Wadhwa.

As a Telecom industry veteran of 25 years, Lalit’s work experience spans building products and developing engineering talent in the country. Prior to joining Cisco, Lalit spent close to 11 years with Alcatel-Lucent in various leadership roles. Earlier on in his career, Lalit has been associated with Hughes Software Systems as Engineering Manager responsible for roll-out of wireless networks in Russia, Indonesia and India and with Instrumentation Ltd. developing fiber optics products and building telecom equipment.

Lalit holds a Bachelor of Technology degree with specialization in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai.
