Cisco broadens Network Security solutions platform

NEW DELHI: Cisco Systems, a company dealing in networking for the Internet, has announced the availability of the PIX 506E and 515E platforms providing enhanced performance for the popular PIX 506 and 515 Firewall platforms in India. These new enhancements provide customers with network security and VPN performance requirements for next-generation, converged network deployments.

"Network Security has emerged as the biggest concern area for corporate in India in the past year. Cisco has sought to address this market efficiently by announcing the Cisco SAFE umbrella in December 1999 - to offer comprehensive network security solutions to our Indian customers." said Cisco Systems India vice president, systems engineer, S V Ramana. "We are now looking to extend the Cisco SAFE platform to the next level by driving significant enhancements to Cisco's market-leading PIX Firewall family, as well as broadening the SAFE Blueprint to support IP telephony. Cisco is committed to drive network adoption in India by demonstrating to customers a clear migration path to setting up secure, cost-effective converged network environments."

This announcement extends Cisco's technical and market innovation in the security and VPN market and further enhances SAFE, a flexible, dynamic blueprint for security and VPN networks. The upgrades will also include the latest version - version 6.2 - of the PIX Firewall Operating System (OS), and will extend the SAFE Blueprint to support IP telephony. SAFE is based on Cisco AVVID, the Architecture for Voice, Video and Integrated Data, enabling businesses to securely maximize security and successfully take advantage of e-Business and compete in the Internet economy.
