Cisco appoints Chan as senior VP

BANGALORE: Cisco Systems has appointed Owen Chan as senior vice president, Asia Pacific Operations.

He will be based in Hong Kong and report to Richard Justice, Cisco's senior vice president of Worldwide Field Operations.

Chan has been with Cisco for six years and was previously vice president of North Asia. He joined Cisco in 1999 as vice president of Customer Advocacy for Asia Pacific/Japan.

Prior to joining Cisco, Chan spent 15 years with General Electric in Asia Pacific, where he was vice president, Sales and Service for GE Information Services.

Chan is replacing Gordon Astles, who is retiring from Cisco after 13 years with the company. Before leading the company's Asia Pacific operations, Astles was in charge of Cisco's Americas International operation. He also held senior sales roles for Cisco in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) including vice president of Channels and Field Operations. He joined Cisco in 1992 as the general manager of Cisco Canada.
