CIOs get ready for 'revenge'

MUMBAI, INDIA: ‘Revenge of the CIO’ was the theme of the recently concluded Enterprise Connect event in Mumbai.

The board in red seemed to encourage the CIOs to rebel against redundant technology and processes. To enable this, a host of companies pitched their innovative solutions to the community.

The Enterprise Connect Forum is a platform that brings together CIOs and industry players on a single platform, from where both can benefit. In spite of the cloudy weather, a lot many CIOs made it a point to attend the event.

At the very onset, Murali Krishna from HP Software spoke about the how companies can use the power of BSM or Business Service Management to their benefit. He was followed up by Sandeep, who is a practice head for Platform Consulting at Wipro Infotech. He dwelt at length on different aspects of disaster recovery and tried to dispel the myths that surround it.

Venugopal Pai, senior director (Alliances), Riverbed Technology was the next speaker and he showed the power of the appliances sold by his company. He gave a neat demo to the audience on how documents could flow easily between the company and the mobile worker through the use of Riverbed technology. It was a riveting demo.

Finally, Sandeep Parekh, principal consultant (Security), Datacraft India and Nishant Ranjan from McAfee spoke about the security scenario and what are the challenges that face the modern enterprise. The event was well attended and received by the audience at large.
