CIOL: From glorious past to golden future

BANGALORE, INDIA: Internet has undoubtedly proved itself as the paradigm shift of this century.

The Web has provided companies and people with a new medium to identify, engage, negotiate, socialize, share and to deliver.

Being a journalist and that too in the Tech media over the past 15 years, I have had the privilege of observing the metamorphosis of the IT industry with the advent of Internet.

I feel proud and honoured to be a part of CIOL’s 15th anniversary as its Executive Editor.

When CIOL edit team sat down to discuss our plans for the 15th year content special, the idea was not just to capture some of the historical data and present it to our readers, but more and beyond. We thought of looking at the FUTURE. Hence we named it as 'Journey Ahead'.

'Journey Ahead' will try to bring thoughts from the leaders in the Tech space to not just anticipate the future, but also help create a part of it ourselves. As a first step in this journey, we are honored to introduce our first guest editor Mr. Kris Gopalakrishnan, co-founder and executive co-chairman of Infosys Ltd, on this occasion.

This is just the beginning.

Internet is just 20 years old and in this short period, it has brought profound changes in our perception of the world. Among all the changes it has brought about, an area that it has had the biggest impact is in making information available easily and without discrimination.

In many ways, the journey of CIOL can be equated with the journey of the Internet in India. CIOL has traversed the distance.

Today, it is the only portal that boasts of several communities within its fold; comprising developers, large corporates, SMEs, Enterprise communities, Technology communities and intermediaries such as channels and resellers.

As always, CIOL's sustained focus will be on providing the latest, the best, most relevant information and will continue to deliver value both to our community of readers and partners.

In the coming weeks, we plan to bring in more informative insights from Tech leaders and introduce you to new columns.
