Infrastructure in India is evolving at a brisk pace. And apart from the SEZs strewn across India for various industries, there’s another visible glimpse of this evolution - use of technology. Here’s a quick look into one of the many areas of IT application in SEZs. A brief interview with Sanjay Gupta, manager, Indirect Taxation, DLF SEZ.

You have recently chosen Udyog Software for enabling the tax areas with IT. Can you share the drivers of this decision?

We are in the development commission terrain so it is important to have software that is made according to our requirements. Udyog Software India (Ltd.) offers solutions in Excise. It’s a software solution provider in the area of Indian indirect tax also. We have configured store inventory, central excise duty, customs, Sales and VAT as some of the areas here. We have also taken the compliance part, along with warehousing and supplier areas. The data moves to software and then to reports which are very handy and actionable.

Any other signs of how IT is helping in actual business areas?

There is no duplication of work, for one. There is also a single shot warehouse sales register and reports. Then there is collaboration which is taken care of by the software. And last but not the least is the effectiveness on compliance to the Development Commissioner, as per the legal requirements and required timely reports.

Has the experience been satisfactory?

Overall, we are satisfied and it has been one year now working with Udyog. We like the idea of having a dedicated person working with us from their side all the time.
