"Cloud (especially Public cloud) will pick up a lot with more and more organizations going in for public cloud offerings - this also means as I see focus shifting from building infrastructure to creation of application platforms and ecosystems."

Another trend to emerge strongly can be Big Data he opines, as a large number of companies have deployed Business Intelligence solutions and also have made their presence on social media in 2012.

"I see in 2013 - big data analytics pick up - companies will go for social analytics, sentiment analytics etc - but as I see most of this will be as a service and companies not deploying in-house tools."

Mobile has already picked up a lot and Sethi augurs this trend to continue and more and more apps moving to mobile - making solutions like MDM (Mobile Device Management) more prevalant.

It is impossible to miss BYOD when one is talking of current trends.

In Sethi's reckoning, most companies will take only baby steps and not any major steps - companies will do some pilots.

Also, with respect to Virtualization - Server or storage virtualization is kind of given - focus will shift to desktop virtualization. "From IT budgets perspective - I see growth in OPEX to be much more compared to growth in CAPEX."
