Cineyug's Morani asked to approach court for bail

NEW DELHI, INDIA: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday asked Karim Morani of Cineyug Films, a co-accused in the 2G spectrum case to approach the trial court with his bail plea, since the charges have have been formally filed there.

"The petition is allowed to be withdrawn," Justice Ajit Bharihoke said, after Morani's lawyer said the bail plea will be filed before the special court of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday.

Morani was named co-conspirator on April 25 with Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi, Kalaignar TV's Sharad Kumar and Kusegaon Realty's Asif Balwa and Rajiv B. Agarwal.

Justice Bharihoke is now expected to continue hearing on Wednesday the bail pleas of five corporates named co-accused in the case: Vinod Goenka of Swan Telecom, Sanjay Chandra of Unitech and three officials of Anil Ambani Group - Gautam Doshi, Hari Nair and Surendra Pipara.

The probe agency had first framed charges against former telecom minister A. Raja, his personal aide R.K. Chandolia, former telecom secretary Siddhartha Behura and Swan Telecom promoter Shahid Balwa.

Among those accused thus far, Raja, Chandolia, Behura, Shahid Balwa, Asif Balwa, Agarwal, Goenka, Chandra, Doshi, Nair and Pipara are in judicial custody.
