CII to conduct 'iTalent 2005' in Chennai

CHENNAI: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Southern Region, would be conducting its second 'iTalent 2005' event in Chennai from January 6-January 7, 2006. The event is aimed at identifying and showcasing the talent of IT students in developing information technology related projects for industry application in Chennai.





Said iTalent 2005 chairman and TCS VP Ravi Shah, "iTalent event was conceptualized last year with an objective to provide students an exposure to competitive landscapes, as well as an opportunity for the industry to have a look at the best students from the professional colleges across South India."





The contest, set in three stages is designed to test the technical, conceptual, presentation and creative skills of the participants. And, the final year students from IT, computer science, ECE, EEE students of Engineering colleges, MCA, M.Sc Computer Science, IT and Electronics, can participate in the event, he said adding that a maximum of four teams comprising of two-four members, can be sent from an institution.





"The meritorious teams would be awarded with Rs 75,000, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 and other finalist would receive a cash award of Rs 1,500 per team. And, the mentor, who guides the team would also be awarded during the iTalent competition," Shah informed.





"This year, we intend to increase the participation from all the four states and intend to conduct a road show to attract institutions present in the sub-urban areas," he added. CII also informed that it would take this event soon to western region next year and slowly convert it as a national event, within few years.
