BEIJING, CHINA: Chinese authorities were "seeking more information on Google's statement that it could quit China", the official Xinhua news agency reported on Wednesday, citing a government official.
The unnamed official from China's State Council Information Office, or cabinet spokesman's office, also said: "It is still hard to say whether Google will quit China or not. Nobody knows."
The statement was the government's first public response to Google's announcement that it was considering shutting its google.cn website and offices in China after hacking attacks.
