ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN: CMPak, a wholly owned subsidiary of China Mobile in Pakistan, has invested $1.5 billion in the country over the past four years, the company said on Thursday. CMPak has 13.2 million subscribers in Pakistan.
It has also deposited 26 billion rupees ($289 million) as taxes during the period, said Fan Yunjun, CEO of CMPak.
Fan was speaking to prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani at his official residence on Thursday. He presented a cheque of 1 million rupees ($11,000) to Gilani for flood relief, Xinhua reports.
China Mobile wants to invest in 3G technology in Pakistan, Fan said, adding it will create job opportunities for youth.
