Channel Excellence Awards light up Emerald Valley

KATHMANDU, NEPAL: The fourth DQ Channels Excellence Award were announced during the fourth Solution Providers Summit held at Kathmandu, Nepal, on Jan 10, 2009. The evening was marked with the enthusiastic participation of a hundred leading SPs from across the country.

The event was kick started with a presentation by Mandeep Gupta of Emerson Power Networks, who threw light on the technology that Emerson has embedded in its products to increase the adaptation of green IT solutions.

The first category of the award was for the Fastest Growing SP. The runner up for this award was Apara Enterprise Solution. The company had posted a turnover of Rs 196 crore in 2007-08, registering a growth of 54 percent over the previous year.

Apara had set up NOC for remote management and monitoring services and a lab for training besides a proof of concept center. Accepting the award from Rakesh Khajanji of Xerox, Satinder Sharma of Apara Enterprises thanked the jury member for recognizing his efforts in taking new initiatives in solution business.

The winner in the category was Allied Digital Services, that posted revenues of Rs 297 crore in 2007-08 up from Rs 156 crore in 2006-07. The company has been growing by around 100 percent for the last two fiscals.

The next category of awards was given to the solution partners who have a widespread service network in the country. The runner up for the 'Best Service Provider' category was Wysetek System Technologies.

While receiving the award from Sudhir Nayar from Sun Microsystems, Venkatesh Pai, CEO of Wysetek thanked his entire team for cooperating and executing better services. Besides offering warranty services and AMCs, the company has created a technology solution division that offers services like project consultancy, solution design, implementation and documentation of ongoing project.

The winner in this category was Team Computers. Team had even bagged the 'Most Reliable Vendor' award from Reliance for a project it had executed for the company. However, Ranjan Chopra, CEO of Team Computers, was not able to attend the event.

The next set of awards for the 'Best Deployment' was given to the SPs who have implemented complex and unique solutions.

The runner up in this category was Digital Waves. Kaushik Sonawala of Digital collected the award from Sudhir Nayar of Sun. "I would like to thank the entire team of Cybermedia who have put so much effort into organizing such an event and getting partners together," said Sonawal while receiving the award.

The company undertook a project for Reliance Big's animation studio where it set up an entire production pipeline from workstations to networking.

The winner in this category was Transline India. The project was to network schools in the state of Rajasthan, that was accompanied with lot of challenges in itself.

The next set of award was the 'Most Comprehensive Solution Provider'. The runner up of the award in this category was Orient Technologies. Girsih Krishnamurthy from Kaseya handed over the award to Ajay Sawant, CEO of Orient. Orient had added several IT brands in its portfolio last fiscal has managed to offer vast spectrum of solutions like third party maintenance, facilities management, disaster recover services and several others.

The winner in this category was Delhi-based PC Solutions. Devendra Taneja, CEO of the company thanked his entire team and all the employees for contributing efforts and hard work that has managed to provide him success in all aspects.

The final and the most awaited set of awards was for 'Most Successful Solution Provider' and the runner up for this category was Delhi-based PC Solutions. PC Solutions had a revenue of Rs 173 crore in 2007-08, while it stood at Rs 141 crore the year before. It has a total technical staff of 790, that comprises of 82 percent of the total manpower for 930 in services.

Devendra Taneja from PC Solutions received the award from Pradeep Gupta, CMD, CyberMedia India.

"The award is of great importance and such recognition in the industry is not achieved over a year or two but it is the effort for several years. We will continue to make such efforts in the future also," said Taneja.

And the winner of the Most Successful Solution Provider award went to Ranjan Chopra of Team Computers. It is worth mentioning that Chopra has been winning at least one trophy at the DQ Channels Excellence Award since the awards were instituted four years back.
