Chandigarh wins e-governance award

PUNE: Union Territory of Chandigarh's e-governance initiative e-Sampark has won the e-Governance Awards for the year 2004.

The Computer Society of India (CSI) - Nihilent e-governance awards identify and recognize the best e-governance initiatives in the country.

Chandigarh won the overall award for the best e-governance model in India. Its e-Sampark project is a multi purpose single window process, bringing together all departments of the state under a single umbrella and give citizens a "multi-service-single-window" experience.

Andhra Pradesh won the award for the best policy framework and e-readiness, while won the best citizen facilitation.

Karnataka Valuation & E-Registration (KAVERI) was declared the overall winner for best e-governance project and e-Krishi Vipanan, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh was the overall runner up.

The winner for service was e-governance and citizens' charter, Ahmedabad, while the runner up award went to Citizen Friendly Service of Transport Dept. (CFST), Hyderabad.

PKI project, Headband, Gujarat was winner in technology category with Municipal Corporation Resource Planning (MCRP), Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh as the runner up.

The award for sustainability went to student Jawahar Fora & Jawahar Knowledge Centre, Andhra Pradesh. Bhopal's e-Gram Suvidha came second.

e-village, Chiluvuru, Andhra Pradesh was declared winner for cost effectiveness and Chief Minister's Office Management System (CMMS), Hyderabad came second.

The award for best technical company in e-governance was conferred on ABM Knowledgeware Ltd, Mumbai, and Co-option Technology Ltd., Hyderabad was declared best in client satisfaction.
