BANGALORE: Coimbatore-based CG Vak Software Ltd. plans to tap the e-commerce
business by emerging as a specialist in the area. It has formed a 50-member
cyber team working on Sun Java and Microsoft platforms for developing
applications on the Internet.
CG Vak managing director G. Suresh and director K. Manickam said that the
company had already developed a web-based supply chain management solution that
could be integrated to the existing back-office applications. To grab its share
on the web they are hosting multiple web sites to effectively address
commercials and sales on the Internet. The first such portal is a food and
beverage one targeted at Indians living abroad. The next one to be released is
on tourism and travel and two more are expected to be out before March next
year.
The company has evolved a multi-tier security system for establishing secured
commercial transaction over the Web. They said that the fully owned overseas
subsidiary, CG Vak USA, had forged strategic alliances with American firms
Starcom and TIS International for marketing its e-commerce services. They are
opening a new office in California next month to focus exclusively on e-commerce
applications. This business is expected to account for 50 per cent of US
revenues next year and 75 per cent in the next two years. While the US
operations are expected to fetch Rs 12 crore revenue by 2001, the Indian firm is
expecting to post a turnover of Rs 6 crore this year from Rs 4.09 crore last
year.
