NEW DELHI: Cellnext Solutions Ltd. has announced the deployment of a Value
Added Services (VAS) delivery platform for Escotel Mobile Communications Ltd.
The wireless delivery platform deployed by Cellnext has integrated multiple
technologies for client Escotel to provide its subscribers with WAP like
services over any normal GSM cellphone, thereby adding considerable value to the
services offered by Escotel to its 5,00,000 customers. The platform derives its
strength from liberating the customer from needing a WAP enabled cellphone. In
addition to this, the platform has strong security features to enable secure
transactions obviating the need to carry cash, debit or credit card on the move.

Cellnext is committed to provide unparalleled wireless solutions, combining
multiple vendors - Sonera SmartTrust, Gemplus and Sun Microsystems - to create a
wireless application delivery platform that combines SMS, OTA, SIM Application
toolkit and WAP technologies. This platform also incorporates an end-to-end
application security cover, over and above the GSM security. DP5 from Sonera
SmartTrust is a flexible and complete solution for the mobile operator to manage
and customise wireless services and to offer service providers a link into the
mobile world. DP5 provides i-mode style Internet services to legacy handsets,
providing a WML channel down to the installed base of mobile phones.

The platform on one end provides high security for financial transactions and
at the same time offers lots of easy-to-use entertainment and infotainment
services. Unlike SMS, Escotel subscribers will not have to type in keywords and
remember a magic number like 333 to send their messages to. All they will need
to do is to browse through the menu and select their favorite service from very
user-friendly menus.

The diverse portfolio of mobile applications that Cellnext has already been
deployed in Escotel's networks are "Cricket", Day-to-Day applications,
which include the very popular "Feng Shui", "Numerology" and
the "Daily Horoscope", traditional "Rahukalam", new age
"Stress Busters", the perennial "Weather". Also in the
Pandora's box is "e-mail", entertainment features including contests
and jokes, many cool "Ring Tones ", "Graphics", finance
related features such as "Stock" and "Forex", an
"m-Banking" feature, and "News", information on
"Railways", STD/ISD facilities, "Travel" related information
and the must-have "Chat" feature.
