Celestica, IBM among design award panelists

HONG KONG: Global Sources has selected a panel of top industry experts and executives as judges for the Second Annual Global Sources Electronics Design Awards, which aim to highlight Asia's most innovative electronics.

Winning products are to be featured at the Design Awards Gallery at the China Sourcing Fair: Electronics & Components in Hong Kong, which is scheduled to be held on Oct. 12-15.

The Global Sources Electronics Design Awards judges are:

* Celestica's Director of Asian Commodity Management, Kevin Beveridge;

* EE Times-China's Senior Technology Analyst, Jan Wang;

* Electronic Design-China's Chief Analyst, Jake Chen;

* Electronics Supply & Manufacturing-China's Senior Analyst, Alice Sun; and

* IBM China Procurement Company's Manager of Procurement Services, David Hu.

Thirty-eight finalists have been selected based on technical design, features and functionality, visual appeal, and sales, marketing and export success.

The finalists in each category are:

* Computer Products: Aware Electronics (two entries); Evak Technology (two entries); BTL International

* Flat-panel TVs: Anbonn; Huipu Electronics; Hong Kong THTF; Konka; Ningbo Boigle Digital

* Home Entertainment: Eastern Times; Ocvaco Electronics; Shenzhen Weidiye Electronics; Shenzhen Wistar Technology; Wisdon Enterprises

* In-car Electronics: GlobalSat Technology; Sharpvision; Simon Trading; Sky Microwave; Sound Technology

* Personal Electronics: Sentech Korea; Sharpvision; Simon Trading; Yifang Digital

* Power Supplies: Beam Tech Electronics; Dongguan Infinia Electronics; Rex Power Industrial Development; Shenzhen Huntkey Power Technology; Shenzhen Maorun Electric

* Security Products: Neotech Photoelectric; Shenzhen Lianyida; Shenzhen Voxtech; Shenzhen Zhongben Security Electronics
