“On behalf of its 2,200 consumer technology member companies, CEA congratulates President Obama, our first digital president, on his inauguration. Through his dynamic use of the Internet and new technology to reach out to all Americans, President Obama embraced this historic presidential election as an opportunity to demonstrate how technology has the power to connect a nation. At a time of economic uncertainty, we look forward to working with President Obama to promote technology and innovation to help revitalize our economy.

“The consumer electronics industry plays a vital role in driving growth and improving lives, and we hope that the new administration will embrace innovation-friendly policies that increase our nation’s competitiveness. President Obama can reenergize America’s place as a leading exporter by approving pending free trade agreements and negotiating new ones that open new markets to American products.

"A national recycling policy will help protect the environment while promoting sensible and effective recycling initiatives. We must also ensure that our nation’s employers are not barred from creating millions of new jobs because the government strips them of the flexibility to be responsive to changing economic conditions.

“By the very fact of his election, America has reaffirmed its ability to astonish and inspire. CEA looks forward to working with President Obama and his new Administration to ensure the benefits of consumer technology are enjoyed by all Americans.”
