The state government on Monday handed over the Rs 7,800-crore Satyam scam to the CBI, more than a month after the IT major's founder B Ramalinga Raju confessed to the financial frauds in the IT major.

The decision to hand over the case to CBI was taken following allegations that the state’s Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID), which has been in charge of the probe, has been going easy on the investigations due to political pressure from senior politicians.

The scandal is currently being investigated by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) in Hyderabad.
