CBI chargesheets Ruias, Khaitans

NEW DELHI, INDIA: The CBI has filed a second supplementary chargesheet against five persons in the special trial court in the 2G spectrum allocation case.

The agency charged Ravi Ruia, Anshuman Ruia and Vikas Saraf of Essar, Loop's I P Khaitan and Kiran Khaitan with criminal conspiracy.

The Essar Group and Khaitan were chargesheeted for flouting Unified access Service Licence (UASL) guidelines.

Essar is chargesheeted for investing in Loop Telecom to procure 2G spectrum licence despite having a stake in Vodafone.

Ravi Ruia allegedly extended monetary assistance to I P Khaitan- a promoter of Loop Telecom to obtain the controversial spectrum.

The investigation revealed that the former acquired Unified Access Service Licence (UASL) licence in early 2008 in latter’s disguise.

The CBI through its 106-page chargesheet, slapped the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 420 and 120(b) to all the accused.
