HYDERABAD: Capital Technologies Ltd. (CTL) of Hyderabad will provide
end-to-end solutions to Internet Service Providers (ISPs). The company has a
fixed wireless system, Last Mile Solution (LMS2000), which will enable the ISPs
to provide broadband communication services to small, medium and large business
organizations.
The LMS2000 from CTL is a broadband solution with features like rapid
deployment, flexibility and scalability. It can be used to complement existing
services or as a standalone solution for new market opportunities. The system
which comprises Network Access Point (NAP), Communication Access Point (CAP) and
a wireless modem (end-user modem), is priced at Rs 47 lakh, Rs 24 lakh and Rs 1.5 lakh, respectively.
The network access point is in effect the "Internet Gateway", which
is a combination of communications hardware and software facilitating the
connection of communication access points to the Internet. CAP provides the ‘last
mile’ connectivity between the Internet and end user modems.
CAPs operate in both the 900MHz and 2.4 GHz range with both the high-speed
business wireless modems and lower speed consumer wireless modems. "ISPs
can use broadband wireless as a complementary option to xDSL, fiber or cable.
Since optical fiber is expensive and cable and xDSL do not reach all business
and homes, wireless ISPs will be viewed more favorably than wired services by
potential customers," said CTL vice president, marketing and sales, R Rajiv
David.
CTL has already tied up with WaveRider Inc., a Canada-based provider of
wireless products, for distributing its products in the country. According to the terms of the agreement, the Canadian firm will provide training and in-house support to CTL's products.
