HYDERABAD: Capgemini got its third office in India with the launch a new centre in Kolkata today.
The 500-seater center will provide Financial and Accountancy Business Process Outsourcing, package implementation and web-based custom software development.
The Paris-based company already has two centres in India in the form of Bangalore and Mumbai. The success of Capgemini's operations in the two cities coupled with increased customer demand has resulted in opening the new centre, according to the consultancy and outsourcing company.
"India is core to Capgemini Group strategy. India's talent and technology strengths have been acknowledged worldwide. We will continue to tap into this talent potential and Kolkata will be a key focus region," Paul Hermelin, CEO of Capgemini was quoted in a release.

Paul Spence, Global Head of Capgemini Outsourcing Services said, "The opening of the Kolkata center is another major step in the strengthening of Capgemini's Rightshore network of BPO centers."
"The launch of our center will help us to achieve our objective of employing over 10,000 people by adding highly talented individuals to extend our footprint in the country,” said Baru Rao, CEO, Capgemini India at the launch of the centre.
Capgemini India has over 100 global customers, including many Fortune 500 companies.
Earlier in the month, Capgemini had announced that it is in talks to acquire smaller Indian companies. Capgemini projects that it needs 14,000 IT staff in low-cost countries to serve its customers by the end of 2008.
