NEW DELHI: Networking major Cisco Systems, today

announced that IT consulting firm Capgemini India, has deployed an integrated

communication network comprising Cisco's switching and routing solutions, as

well as advanced technologies like IP telephony and security.

For enabling this distributed delivery of services, Capgemini India required
robust network infrastructure and deployed Cisco's premier series of catalyst

switches and 3700 and 2600 routers to address a wide range of performance and

service requirements, in addition to adopting Cisco's Network Management

solutions for managing the LAN infrastructure. Capgemini also installed IP

telephony infrastructure and the Intrusion Prevention System from Cisco's

portfolio of Advanced Technologies, for meeting their business needs.

“Since the beginning, we have used Cisco solutions for managing our network.
As we expanded our operations in the country, Cisco kept pace and reaffirmed its

technological prowess at each step of our growth. Cisco continues to provide us

end to end robust and scalable network solutions that enable Capgemini to reduce

costs and leverage its capacity and competencies across geographies, resulting

in enhanced customer satisfaction,” said Christophe Du Vignaux, Vice President

and Financial Controller, Capgemini Consulting India.

“Capgemini's distributed delivery model implies that it offers the right
resource at the right place and the right price to a host of global customers

— and this requirement can best be supported by IP-based network

infrastructure that is easily scalable, always available, highly secure and

future-proof. We are pleased that Cisco's IP solutions have ably supported

Capgemini in increasing its business agility,” said B Ashok, Senior

Vice-President — IT Services, Cisco Systems, India and SAARC.

At the core of the Capgemini network is Cisco's intelligent multi-layer modular
switch, the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series, and Catalyst 4500 Series switches at

distribution and Catalyst 3550 / 3560 at the access layers respectively. The

switching platform deploys 720 Gbps switching fabrics for the Core switches and

Capgemini has deployed multi gigabit Ethernet backbone for their Local Area

Networking (LAN).

For the routing function, Capgemini has deployed industry-leading 3700 and 2600
Routers for Data and Voice routing to address a wide range of performance and

service requirements. Capgemini uses a wide variety of WAN options, including

Leased circuits and ISDN PRI circuits.

Capgemini has nearly 1000 Cisco IP Phones currently installed, along with the
Cisco Call Manager and Cisco Unity suite for voicemail. The Cisco IP telephony

infrastructure runs on standards based Power over Ethernet (IEEE 802.3af).
