Pint, scan, copy, and an occasional fax are the requirements that most home and small businesses have. Doing all this stuff well while sticking to a budget is the real challenge. The Canon MX 318 multifunctional, with a price tag of around 11k has features that many MFDs offer at higher prices.

Supporting a max print resolution of 4800 dpi results in sharper and vibrant prints. Scanning support is for a resolution of 1200x2400 pixels, along with a copy function and inbuilt fax for getting the job done faster. The onboard document feeder can take up to 30 sheets at a time, so you need not worry if you have to send multiple docs at a time.

The good part is that it does the job with quality and that too without taking too much time. A standard A4 color print took 1.25 min while an A4 photo print took 2.30 mins. Scanning and copying were speedy too; 30 secs for color A4 scan at 300 DPI, 45 secs for a color copy.

It's a great buy if you only look at the multifunctional aspect and print quality–but the small ink cartridges are on the expensive side, which adds to the overall cost per print.
