Canon launches wide format printers

NEW DELHI: Canon India has announced the launch of BJ-W9000 printer for wide

format applications. The printer provides photo-realistic quality output in all

available modes at 1200 dpi will be priced at Rs 7.5 lakh.

The printer is capable of printing a full - color B0 size poster on the

high-speed mode in as little as 7 minutes. Designed to handle the needs of

print-for-pay establishments, commercial printers and in- house corporate

designers, the BJ- W9000 is ideal for color proofing as well as heavy volume in-

house printing.

The printer will initially be made available directly through the company.

The BJ- W9000 employs a high performance multiple print head chassis with Mirror

Technology chips and four heavy-duty one-inch printer heads, two on either side.

The chips are arranged on the printer heads, three per head, each chip

comprising 256 nozzles, arranged vertically for maximum print coverage in a

single pass of the head.

Graphic Arts Solution marketing manager Lakshmi Narayan Rao said,

"BJ-W9000 is appropriately designed to offer practical, high quality,

cost-effective solutions for the rapidly growing graphics segment in

India."

Images up to 42 inches wide can be printed using a dual roll system on a wide

range of media choices, including coated, glossy or semi- glossy paper. A

single-touch media switching allows changes between roll and cut- sheet

applications.

The dual roll system allows printer to automatically cascade to second roll

when the first is finished, thus facilitating continuous printing of banners up

to 143 feet in length. It also incorporates an ingenious ink tubing system with

a back up ink tank to ensure incessant supply of ink.
