Canon has announced the launch of the BJC1000SP Super Printer, targeted at

individual users and the SOHO segment. This new printer is priced at an

affordable Rs 4,695 (street price). Measuring 14.2 inches in width, 6.3 inches

in height and a depth of 6.9 inches, the BJC1000SP is said to be smaller than

any Canon desktop printer currently available in the Indian market. Canon is

offering the Einstein Cartoon Software worth Rs 1,000 free with every purchase

of the BJC1000SP. This software enables users to create their own personalized

cards, letterheads, banners, posters etc.

The printer incorporates three unique technologies. Firstly, Canon’s image

enhancement technology called PhotoOptimizer enhances low-resolution screen

images and prints them out at the maximum resolution supported by the printer.

Secondly, the PhotoRealism technology applies photo ink in layers rather than

the one-ink-drop-per-pixel method of conventional printers. Thirdly, Canon’s

ingenious method of arranging ink drops in the Super Economy Mode yields 2,400

pages with a single monochrome cartridge (BC-03). It is also said to reduce

running costs and prints four times as many color prints with a single color

cartridge (BC-05).

The BJC1000SP can print on a wide range of media, like invitation cards,

transparencies, 3D metallic stickers, T-shirts, banners and even personalized

mouse pads. The auto-cleaning function incorporated in the printer assures

continued print quality.
