NEW DELHI: Canon India today rolled out rolled out 36 new products for the
Indian market with the objective to attain market leadership by 2006 end.
To extend its worldwide leadership in the Indian market, the company
introduced the unique differentiator in digital cameras called the Camera IQ,
Image quotient and the picolitre series of printers. The Image Quotient is a
unique combination of zoom & mega pixel, which enables enhanced photography
experience.
Speaking at the launch Alok Bharadwaj, vice president, Canon India said that
with the strength in both image capturing and printing products, the company
would be leveraging the 'photo advantage' by encouraging the connection of
both digital cameras and printers.
“Our success is the Q1 '06 results where the company grew by 35 per cent
overall and the digital camera group business grew in Q1 by 267per cent. Our
growth in the East and South India has been encouraging. This year we are
targeting the West and North India for our business,” Bharadwaj said.
Another facet of Canon's roadmap to leadership consists of aggressive plans
for the publishing industry. With a specific focus on the Graphic Arts and
Production segment Canon plans to extend its reach to this new business
opportunity. Bharadwaj said that the market currently stands at Rs. 100 Crore
growing at over 100 per cent per annum. To boost their business in India the
company has appointed a new sales and technical team. The sales team consists of
4 specialists in Bangalore, Mumbai, Delhi & Chennai and 5 technical
supporters for Production and Graphic Arts service and support.
Commenting on the key role of channel partners this year Bharadwaj said, “2006
is the year of growth and leadership for Canon in India. We intend to attain
leadership by end of 2006 and this will not be possible without the involvement
and support of our partners. The service network in India will get a boost
through 7 direct offices of Canon and through 9 high trained partners across the
country.”
To further strengthen their leadership, Canon is undertaking various
innovative marketing strategies including a "Gyan Yatra" across the
country to educate the dealers on the products and technologies.
The products being launched consists of 9 Digital Cameras, 1 Digital Slur's,
5 Digital Video Camcorders, 1 Selphy printer, 3 Inkjet printers, 3 Laser
printers, 3 All-In-One's, 3 Projectors, 1 Laser Fax, 3 Color Laser Med's, 2
Copier based MFD's & 2 Digital production machines.
