Canon India enters high end imaging mkt with Oce

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Canon India today announced its partnership with Oce Singapore where Canon India will be soul distributor for all Oce imaging product in the country.

“It is great pleasure to announce that we have entered in to agreement with Oce to distribute all its product in Indian market. Oce has been selling products in India through six distributors and with this new beginning, the existing partner of Oce will become partner to Canon India,” said Alok Bharadwaj, senior vice president, Canon India.

With this new partnership, Canon India expects to clock revenue of Rs 100 crore with product of both Canon and Oce to bring revenue of Rs 50 crore each.

“We are leader in photo copier business and laser printer business in India. The new partnership will help Canon India offer 50 new product range over existing 20 imaging solution product. These new products will mark our entry in to new segment offset printing, outdoor and transaction bill,” said Kensaku Konishi, president and CEO, Canon India.

Bharadwaj mentioned that the size of the digital printing industry in India is Rs 1000 crore and has around 1 lakh offset printers with 1000 print shop providers.

“The digital printing industry in India is expected to grow at 25 per cent year on year. Océ, being a world leader in various printing segments including the production printing domain, will supplement Canon’s best in class processes and infrastructure. This will effectively enhance our ability to unlock the market’s considerable potential and to become the key growth driver in the digital printing market,” said Bharadwaj.

Bharadwaj mentioned that Canon India will create two business groups in Digital Production and Wide Format Printing space to leverage benefit of this partnership and address specific business needs of the customers.

Canon India has appointed separate heads for these business divisions. Puneet Datta will manage the Océ production and printing division and Rajeev Tewari will head the Wide Format imaging division.

“Oce product range starts from where Canon range ends. This will give us benefit to cater needs of wide array of customers. Hence we have decided to create these two business groups that will specifically address needs of various segment in business-to-business imaging market space,” said Bharadwaj.

In Wide Format Imaging Solution (WFIS), Oce has products that can print technical documents between range of 36 inch to 44 inch and for display graphics it can go up to 10 meters.

Canon’s WFIS product in display graphic supported range between 17 inch to 60 inch. Similarly in Digital document system (DDS) which offers products for books and newspaper printing, Canon has upper limit of printing 105 book pages per minute while Oce product in similar category will have speed of printing 320 pages per minute.

Price range of Oce products to be sold in India will vary between 2.5 lakhs to Rs 25 crore while Canon India currently offers B2B printing solution between price range of Rs 8 lakhs to 80 lakhs.

In India Oce has installed base of 250 DDS and 600 WFIS machines. Canon has 100 production printers and 600 WFIS products.
