BANGALORE: Software solutions and services firm Canarys Automations Pvt. Ltd
announced the launch of Scorpus, a software asset creation and management
product at the World Architecture Summit 2006.
According to a Canarys statement, this product would help IT organizations to
remain competitive by achieving economies of scope through software reuse. IT
organizations are increasingly taking up enterprise wide reuse initiatives via
business services and components that are realized through SOA. Scorpus, based
on Object Management Group's Reusable Asset Specification, offers unequaled
business advantages while delivering improved quality, reduced time to market
and increased productivity.
“The growing investments in IT and increasing pressure on software
development companies to get more productive, we foresee monolithic software
application development practices taking a backseat. The future is definitely
moving towards the 'Software Factory' concept and Scorpus lays the
foundation for it as an enabler for software reuse”, commented Srihari,
director- Technology of Canarys.
“Scorpus marks our foray into the growing and highly potential metadata
repository market which is estimated at a size of US$ 150 million by 2009,” he
added in the statement.
