Canam Software brings JSON processing to COBOL

MISSISSAUGA, CANADA: Canam Software Labs, Inc. (Canam), the developer and manufacturer of automated XML software integration solutions, is pleased to announce the immediate availability of JSON support for enterprise COBOL applications, XML Thunder.

JSON (an acronym for JavaScript Object Notation) is a lightweight text-based open standard designed for human-readable data interchange. It is derived from the JavaScript programming language for representing simple data structures and associative arrays, called objects.

JSON is used as an alternative to XML or SOAP message format because of its compact size.

Enterprise systems can take advantage of JSON processing now with their COBOL systems using XML Thunder, said a press release.

The first enterprise customer project has now been successfully completed, The result was several hundred percent increase in processing speed relative to comparable SOAP messages with decreased processing time, increased transaction rate and overall higher performance of the application with more efficient use of computing resources, added the release.
