NEW DELHI, INDIA: The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), which said there were irregularities in allocation of 2G spectrum licences to telecom operators, has reportedly submitted its final report to the Finance Ministry and the President.
It is alleged that the spectrum allotment has caused a loss of nearly Rs 1,76,700 crore crore to the exchequer.
According to an NDTV report, the CAG report is expected to be tabled in parliament within the next 10 days.
Unlike 3G spectrum, the 2G spectrum was licensed instead of being auctioned to companies whose eligibility was later questioned by the opposition parties, which has repeatedly demanded Raja’s resignation over the issue.
The Supreme Court had recently asked the central government how long it would take to complete investigations into the 2G spectrum scam. The apex court also slammed the Central Bureau of Investigation, saying that it has not done anything.
Meanwhile, the Congress said any action against Telecom Minister A. Raja is the prerogative of the Prime Minister.
