CHENNAI: Chennai-based CADD Centre Training Services (CCTS) is setting up a fully owned division by the name of C&M (Colorgrafx & Multimedia) to offer graphics and animation education. CADD Center, which offers training and development in CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Designing/Computer Aided Manufacturing) from 38 centres in India, has plans to open 10 C&M franchisee centers in Chennai by next year. An investment of Rs 10 lakhs will be pumped in for each center is envisaged.

The course, priced at Rs 36,000, is for a duration of 90 days. It is divided into 3 modules: Still Grafx, Motion Grafx and Post Production & Authoring. The first module will cover textile pattern designing, web designing, jewellery designing, etc. The Motion Grafx module includes animation, 2D and 3D. The final module will help designers to add and mix sound and other effects to any design or presentation. The company expects to generate revenues worth Rs 24 lakhs per center, annually.

According to S. Karaiadi Selvan, Director, CADD Training Services Private Ltd, "We expect to train about 100 students per center." Each batch is to comprise 6 students. The course is expected to provide job opportunities in areas like web designing and hosting, advertisement agencies, desktop publishing, TV media, ad film making, etc. The still graphics (Still Grafx) module is expected to attract the home user segment--like school children and housewives. Though C&M centers will be located in Chennai to begin with, there are plans to expand to other parts of Tamil Nadu (like Coimbatore and Erode). Its future plans also include opening 100 CADD centers across India, by 2001.
