CA launches ‘ca smart’ for its partners

ORLANDO: Computer Associates Inc. has announced a new certification program

for its partners. According to the company, ca smart certified solutions deliver

the "highest level of quality and create the greatest eBusiness value for

customers to successfully compete in the new economy".

The three factors that qualify partners to receive the ca smart certificate

are developing a product or solution that interfaces with CA software,

integrating CA software as a component of an application or solution and using

CA software as part of a completed hardware product.

Aftek Infosys is one of the Indian software companies to have earned the ca

smart certification.

Meanwhile, CA on Tuesday announced that it has unified and extended its range

of eBusiness storage solutions under its BrightStor brand. The first product

released under BrightStor brand, BrightStor Enterprise Backup, has been made

available. A CA release quoted independent analyst firm Doculabs Inc. as saying

that the product delivers online backup of relational databases at a rate of

1.56 terabytes per hour.

CA, in the ongoing CA World being held in Orlando, Florida, has also

announced that it has expanded its relationship with storage area network

infrastructure provider Brocade Communications Systems Inc. to provide enhanced

data management solutions for Brocade-based SANs. The two companies have

released Brocade SOLUTIONware, which details a pre-tested SAN configuration,

based on CA’s BrightStor Enterprise Backup and Brocade SAN infrastructure, the

release said.
