The decision had come a week ago and now student body NSUI is rallying to postpone or cancel the finals this year. Earlier, a notice also started doing rounds about the postponement. For that, the ICAI had issued that no such news is true. They will hold exams even if one student is willing to attempt.

NSUI's National Secretary Lokesh Chugh said, “It is an insensitive and inhumane decision for CA and CS students as they are not in a position to prepare for the examinations right now. The NSUI demands the ICAI and ICSI to not conduct its examination which is scheduled on 29th July 2020 and 6th July 2020 respectively and understand the plight of students as these examinations will affect their future.

What did ICAI say on the CA Final Exams postponement?

The Board received mixed opinions and thus issued a statement stating that students can opt-out for the exam. They will be able to give it in November. The statement read:

ICAI is committed to serving even if one student wishes to appear in examination scheduled from 29th July 2020. Still considering the prevailing COVID-19 situation and in the interest of mitigating the anxiety and hardships of students, we have decided to provide an OPT-OUT option to students.

This option is now closed. Further, the ICAI will inform the students in the first week of July if you have opted out or not. If you actively haven't, the ICAI will assume that you will give the CA Final exams. It also mentioned that IPCE-Old Course will be extended for one more attempt i.e. November 2020 Examination cycle.
