LAS VEGAS: Computer Associates (CA) formally launched the CA Management bundle for Microsoft Exchange, an integrated management solution for ensuring the performance, security, data protection and reliability of email. The new offering is expected to enable CIOs to lower the cost of daily operations and infrastructure and consolidate servers to improve reliability and better efficiencies.

The announcement is part of CA's new product strategy called Enterprise Infrastructure Management (EIM) that is aimed at enabling organizations to optimize assets, increase infrastructure performance and help CIOs run IT like a business.

Under EIM, CA will deliver solutions for operations, security life cycle and service management using a common set of services and a common database environment. "Customers are asking for greater integration to lower the cost of management", said, Mark Barrenechea, Senior Vice President of product development at CA.

The management bundle for Exchange is the first offering of the new EIM strategy of CA. To manage Exchange environments, organizations typically deploy tools from multiple vendors that may not be integrated. This can increase ownership costs and complicate upgrades and deployments of Exchange environments. Combining technologies from its eTrust, BrightStor and Unicenter product lines CA's new solutions addresses this complexity by enabling organizations to effectively monitor and manage their Exchange environments from a central point of control, using a single install. Administrators can view the status of the entire Exchange environment from a business perspective to quickly determine the source of the problem.

"Microsoft recognizes the ongoing commitment that CA has made to the Microsoft platform to address the needs of our mutual customers," said Kim Akers, senior director of Exchange marketing at Microsoft. " The new CA Management bundle shows an understanding of those needs and offers customers a solution for managing and protecting their messaging environments."

CA is a Gold certified Microsoft partner and a leading participant in some of Microsoft's key initiatives.
