C-DAC showcases e-governance expertise

PUNE: IT has come up with solutions for almost every e-governance need. More

than 22 odd products were on display at the two-day road show organized by

Pune's prestigious Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC).

The objective behind the show was to showcase its expertise and strength in

e-governance solutions and services. Representatives of C-DAC's Authorized

Training Centres (ATCs) in India and its business development groups were in

attendance for the road show for acquainting and understanding these

applications.

The ATCs are being promoted to C-DAC's e-governance applications more

vigorously on a national level. The road show thus sets to accomplish C-DAC's

objective of effectively teaming up its training infrastructure with development

marketing through the integration of its business development groups with the

ATCs.

Data Warehousing for Decision Support in government, Works Management Suite,

Hospital Information System (HIS), Stamps Registration Software, Land Management

System, Municipal Corporations Operation Computerization, Document Management

System, Archives Computerization, Personal Information Management System, Octroi

Management, State Legislative Assembly/Council Operation Computerisation,

Telephone Revenue Billing, Integrated Electoral rolls for Election Commission,

Laboratory Management & Automation System (LAMAS), Seed Processing

Computerisation, and Networking Enabling Enterprise-Wide Data Exchange.

C-DAC has developed and offered a range of these e-governance solutions for

the states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Goa, UP, MP and Gujarat

with a view to improve transparency, speedy information dissemination, higher

administrative efficiency and improved public services in various sectors of

government including education, power, health, revenue, water, security and

other municipal services. These cover computerization of Stamp &

Registration, Archives, PWD (Works Management, Employees Information, Tender

Management), Legislative Council/Assembly, Octroi, Municipal Corporations, and

Decision Support Systems besides being a turnkey solution provider to some of

the states.

Take the case of the Reporting Information System. This is a multi-user

system for the reporting branch of Legislature Secretariat, which helps

reporters prepare for the proceedings of the house. Currently in use in

Maharashtra, C-DAC is understood to have made a pitch before the UP government

for the solutions.

The Octroi Management System (OMS) is another case in point. OMS performs

automatic octroi calculation based on the weight, value, quantity based system

applicable to the Municipal Council and generate receipts. A product of this

kind could find use in a number of government departments.

Also on display were the recent works undertaken by the National Multimedia

Research Centre (NMRC). After beginning work on the Dnyaneshwari, the center has

begun work on the life and works of Shrinivas Ramanujam - the mathematics genius

and the multimedia application development and kiosks for the National Museum in

Delhi.
