C-DAC, Bitstream partner for Indian language fonts

PUNE: Bitstream Inc. and C-DAC (Center for Development of Advanced Computing), GIST, Pune, have announced an agreement to bring a wide variety of classic and contemporary Indian language fonts to developers licensing Bitstream Font Fusion, Bitstream's font rendering technology, and Bitstream Panorama, a global text composition engine.

According to the press release, the Indian Language fonts are all OpenType typefaces that support popular Indian languages including Assamese, Bengali, Devanagari script (supports Hindi & Marathi languages), Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.

"With the increasing demand of supporting Indian languages in all applications and devices, this partnership will help C-DAC in its mission to proliferate the usage of languages and ensure that everyone gets the benefits of computerization. C-DAC looks forward to this collaboration as a fruitful and long-lasting relationship with Bitstream," said director general of C-DAC S Ramakrishnan. .
