A study conducted by Acorn Marketing & Research Consultants and commissioned by VMware said that allowing employees to use devices and apps of their choice is a key to efficient workforce.

VMware India and SAARC MD T Srinivasan said that despite of employees’ productivity enhancement, the proliferation of multiple devices led to CIOs’ security challenges. There is growing need, he said is to manage mobile workforce.

The findings indicate that 77 per cent of the employees bring their own devices at workplace. 47 per cent of the respondents believe that there is a negative impact of IT policy hence on-the-job efficiency gets considerably affected.

The main reasons that drive BYOD include mobility (47 per cent) and connectedness (39 per cent), the study revealed. “With the consumerization of IT, the mobile worker is today evolving a new virtual worker,” Srinivasan added.

TeamLease SVP (IT sourcing) Surabhi Mathur Gandhi said that the research demonstrates that the corporate IT landscape is changing rapidly.

“Employees want to work in organizations that offer high-end technology to support dynamic work-related expectations,” said Gandhi.
