Business Objects launches Indian operations

MUMBAI: Business Objects, provider of business intelligence (BI) solutions, has launched its operations in India and opened its office in Mumbai. The company has set-up a sales, marketing and support team headed by Sanjay Deshmukh. "The time is right for BI application software vendors as business users need access to more and more information in the decision making process because of highly competitive business scenario. We have also established a strong channel network in India to serve customers" he said.



Henry Goh, Managing Director, Business Objects, South Asia said, "We are bringing world class BI technology to Indian corporations and replicating the remarkable success of Business Objects in Europe and America. India is the key strategic market for us."

Earlier the company had presence in India through its partners and minimal direct representation. It now plans to expand its presence in both business infrastructure and product areas namely data integration and analytic applications.



According to IDC, the market for BI solutions in India is $54 million and is expected to grow by 26 percent. Business Objects India has already close to 100 customers and intends to grow by 120 percent in 2003.
