On July 1, 2013, Shelby County Schools (SCS), the unified district combining legacy Memphis City Schools and legacy Shelby County Schools, will become Tennessee's largest school system and the 14th largest district in the U.S. serving nearly 140,000 students, as per what is stated in a press note.

As added, SCS selected Tyler's Versatrans solution because of its scalability as the district transitions to a single public school district, merging the transportation operations of the former Memphis and Shelby County schools.

SCS invested in a wide range of applications, including Versatrans Routing & Planning, Versatrans Onscreen, Versatrans Triptracker and Versatrans e-link to share user-defined data on the Web, giving staff and parents the ability to look up route information.

"Assimilating Versatrans across the district will aid in providing a consistent level of excellence in the transportation of all students," said Debbie Rike, Shelby County Schools' transportation director. "The GIS system and map integration in Versatrans is superior to other products we reviewed, and the ease of use for routing and planning exceeded our expectations."
