HYDERABAD: Bull Power Infotech Pvt. Ltd., a Hyderabad based systems

manufacturer is planning an inbuilt Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS) in the CPU.

"The idea is to cut down on the size as well as the cost of the UPS and

integrate it with the CPU. We are doing this by introducing ‘Top switch’,

which reduces the size of the charging circuit," said R Chandrasekhar Rao,

managing director of the company.

At present the product is in the testing phase at the company’s R&D

center in Hyderabad and will released into the market sometime in the next

quarter. Basically the company is designing the product in such a way so as to

reduce the size as well as the cost factor. The product has got IGBT(Isolated

Gate Bypolar Transistor system) inverter - a semiconductor device having much

more efficiency when compared to the traditional semi conductor devices.

"With the introduction of IGBT, we have reduced the size to quite an

extent. It is a combination of a transistor and a Mosfet," he added.

Initially the company is looking forward to unveil the product in the

southern part of the country for the home segment PCs. The in-built UPS can

supply uninterrupted power for a duration of 30 minutes and is likely to reduce

the cost by as much as 30 per cent. "We are going to price it between Rs

3,300 to Rs 3, 500 and it would include the UPS, the cabinet and the SMPS

(Switch Mode Power Supply)," he explained.

The company has a tie up with Israel based, Gamatronic Electronic industries

Ltd. to manufacture the UPS under its technical collaboration. Bull Power is one

of the largest power Electronics equipment manufacturers in India. It has more

than 25 models of SMPS, a status built over the past ten years.

These products are targeted at Industrial and Consumer sectors. The company

has established a fully automated manufacturing facility near Hyderabad,

catering to IT and telecom equipment manufacturers who find a place among the

top ten in India. Most of them are discerning multinational affiliates. The

company has a wide distribution network, spanning the entire country. It has

more than 100 channel partners all over the country and over 40 dealers under

its belt.
