NEW DELHI, INDIA: Though the Supreme Court on Thursday stayed the verdict in the Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit case saying the deferment is in public interest, as a precaution to curb rumours related to the verdict, the central government is planning to continue the ban on bulk SMS and MMS services till September 29, a source told CIOL.

The apex court stayed the verdict while hearing a special leave petition filed by Ram Chandra Tripathi and posted the matter for further hearing on September 28.

On Wednesday evening the government had issued orders to ban bulk SMS and MMS for three days in consultation with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to prevent cellphones turning handy for mischief-mongers looking to spread rumours, distribute objectionable content and create panic.
