According to company sources developers will be able to build secure Web services complying to the latest

Web services specifications like WS-Security, WS-Policy, WS-SecurityPolicy, WS-Trust, WS-SecureConversation, and WS-Addressing.

The WSE service pack will enable developers to apply security policies to Web services running on the .Net Framework. Web services can be signed and encrypted using the Kerberos tickets, X.509 certificates, username/password credentials, and other custom binary and XML-based security tokens. Said the report.

The service pack also supports message-oriented programming for asynchronous communication for WS. According to the company, an enhanced security model provides a policy-driven foundation for securing Web services across trust domains. WSE also supports the ability to establish a trust-issuing service for retrieval and validation of security tokens, said the company.

Web services created using the WSE service pack can be hosted in multiple environments, including ASP.NET, standalone executables, and NT Services, and can communicate over alternative transports including HTTP or TCP.
