BT Global Media drives NDTV's US expansion

NEW DELHI, INDIA: BT’s Media and Broadcast sector has entered into two new agreements with New Delhi Television (NDTV) to be its global network supplier, and enabling them to distribute NDTV Good Times (lifestyle channel) and NDTV Profit (business channel). NDTV is India’s largest private producer of current affairs and news television and General Entertainment Television.  

Dinesh Singh, Head of Broadcast Engineering and Operations, NDTV Group, said, “BT’s Global Media Network continues to be a solid partner to help us build our international network.  In our line of business, we need to ensure that we have a highly reliable and resilient network.  Not only does BT’s service provide this but it is also highly cost effective which assists us in expending our offer around the globe.”

These are the third and fourth major contracts for BT with NDTV in the last 24 months.  NDTV previously engaged BT to distribute NDTV’s Arabia channel in the Dubai market and NDTV Imagine in the UK and US market over the eurobird sky platform and EchoStar.  Additionally, BT carried 24/7 Television channels into the UK using the BskyB platform in UK and transporting the signal to the Direct TV platform in Los Angeles for it to be broadcasted over the Direct TV’s US platform.

Kevin Taylor, COO, Asia Pacific, BT, said, “We have been delivering excellent results for NDTV with our GMN offer and they are rewarding our efforts with these two new contracts which further help them increase their global operations footprint.”

The ability of BT’s media & broadcast Media-IP network to connect customer’s to multiple platforms across many countries without getting out of the network has proven to be invaluable in growing NDTV’s global presence.  The two new channels (NDTV Good times, a lifestyle channel and NDTV Profit, a business focus) are broadcast from its facility based out of Delhi-India to a DirecTV cable platform in USA.
