BSNL targets 4 mn 3G users by 2011

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Indian state-run telecoms firm Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd, would have have 4 million 3G users by March 2011, up from 1.3 million currently, Chairman Kuldeep Goyal said on Wednesday.

Goyal added that the firm would shortly seek expressions of interest for franchisees for its third-generation (3G) wireless services.

BSNL, which has about 72 million subscribers, is India's fourth-largest mobile phone operator.
