BSNL offers with impetus on broadband

BANGALORE, INDIA: Giving impetus to the growing subscriber base of broadband connections in Karnataka, BSNL announced BSNL Mela on January 2-3 and lined up several new offers for new year.

Subhendu Ghosh, principal general manager, Bangalore Telecom District, said: "Landline has always been our backbone. However, this time around, broadband is picking up tremendously and in turn fuelling the growth of landline connections. Today, 68 percent of all landline connections in Bangalore come with broadband connections. Keeping this in mind, BSNL is organizing the Mela with an impetus on broadband and cellular connections."

"BSNL is also all set to roll out 3G in a couple of months with all latest features. It will launch 3G in Chennai by Febraury and in Karnataka by March," he added.

"Irrespective of the tough year that we have had, BSNL emerged as the best service provider in a study by an independent body. Moreover, BSNL recently signed an MoU with 150 builders in and around Bangalore to provide 'in-building solutions', in order to increase coverage inside buildings."

"Moreover, from the present 600 towers, we have plans to commission another 400 towers in another three to four months, thus taking our capacity to 50 lakhs from the present 18 lakhs by the end of March. In another six months, BSNL will bring in marked improvement in terms of coverage with these additional towers," Ghosh added.

BSNL Mela offerings:

BSNL lined up several offerings for landline, broadband, landline without broadband, incentive for DNP cases, government PSU employees, fixed phones using swiping cards and mobile services.

It announced five new offers for its mobile services. For prepaid subscribers, it  announced two new promotional offers - New Power Pack of Rs 249 and Sakkath Majaa 499 Pack.

BSNL also launched a postpaid scheme exclusive for deaf and dumb, and another Rs 550 Mega Pack for its postpaid services. Moreover, BSNL will soon launch fixed mobile phone connections and introduce e-billing systems in Karnataka.

It announced 20 percent discounts on broadband bills for government/PSU employees and 10-50 percent rebate on outstanding bills.

Apart from thses offers, BSNL also waived off installation charges on its landline and broadband segments and also offered rebates on the same.
