MUMBAI: Brocade Communications has opened two offices in India in New Delhi and Mumbai, which will be manned by one person each. It has recruited two persons, one each in New Delhi and Mumbai to take care of operations. The personnel would take care of technical problems that partners and customers are facing with the Delhi office being the company's headquarters.

The company has appointed Shyam Gopal as the country manager for India and he would initially be based in Singapore. The company plans to recruit more professionals as business demands.

Brocade saw a substantial growth in its 2003-04 revenues of 14 percent, going ahead of industry average of 13 percent in the SAN market. According to Brocade Asia Pacific VP Deb Dutta, "It is high time for us to have our own presence to support our partners and customers. India is a very strategic market for us after China in Asia-Pacific region." The company till now was operating through its OEM partners like IBM, HP, StorageTek, etc.

Since SAN market is in its consolidation phase, the company has come out with new technology initiatives to drive the market. The company is focusing more on the enterprise side with the advanced blade server technology and multi- protocol router switch.

While China based Foxcon takes care of the hardware requirements of the company, Brocade has partnered with Wipro on the software side. At present Brocade intends to work only with Wipro. It plans to move into the SMB segment more aggressively with a focus on upcountry market.
