MUMBAI: British Telecom (BT) has announced plans of investing around 2-3 million pounds to set up managed network services operations in India by July this year. Graham Moore, President, BT Worldwide (Asia Pacific) revealed that most of this investment would be utilized in the purchase of networking equipment that would be used for both voice-based and data-based networking.

BT would be looking at plans to set up centers in Delhi and Bangalore by July this year and later set up a third center in Mumbai. It is also actively looking at local partners to complete this process. Currently, it is undergoing negotiations with four local partners who are having international licenses though the finalization would happen in only about a month’s time.

According to Moore, the rationale behind setting up the Indian operations was because several of its customers in UK and Europe plan to set up call centers in India. And these customers specifically want BT to have the infrastructure set up in India. However, he refuted speculations about BT itself setting up a call center in India.
